Our verdict
Lendermarket offers high headline rates behind an ECSPR licence, but it carries the one operational blemish that matters most in this sector: a period during which buyback payments from Creditstar, its dominant originator, were extended and delayed well past the stated window. It has since diversified its originator base and the delays were resolved, but a platform that has already made investors wait cannot be scored as if it hasn't. The licence is real; the concentration is also real.
What works
- ECSPR licensed in Ireland
- Rates near the top of the market
- Has added originators beyond Creditstar since the delay episode
- Reporting has improved noticeably in the last two years
What doesn't
- Buyback payments from Creditstar were delayed and extended — the single most important fact about this platform
- Still heavily concentrated in one originator group
- No secondary market, so no exit if you lose confidence
- Creditstar's own refinancing profile has been a recurring concern
Who this is for
Investors who have read the Creditstar delay history in full and consciously decide the current rate compensates them for it. If you have not read it, this is not a platform to start with.
