Our verdict
Debitum is the most useful diversifier in this table because it is not consumer credit. Business loans to small European companies respond to a different economic cycle than short-term consumer lending, which is exactly what most P2P portfolios are missing. It holds a Latvian investment brokerage licence, publishes asset-level detail, and has operated without incident since 2018. The trade-off is liquidity: there is no secondary market and business loan terms are longer.
What works
- Business lending rather than consumer credit — genuine diversification from the rest of a typical P2P portfolio
- Licensed investment brokerage firm in Latvia, an unusually strong regulatory footing
- Detailed asset-level disclosure including the borrowing company
- No history of buyback delays since 2018
What doesn't
- No secondary market and longer terms, so capital is committed for longer
- Smaller loan supply means cash can sit uninvested
- Business loan defaults are lumpier and less predictable than consumer defaults
- Fewer originators, so concentration risk within the platform is real
Who this is for
Investors who already hold consumer-credit platforms and want exposure that does not fail at the same time as the rest of the portfolio.
